    SOLD Framed silkscreen from legendary Japanese abstract artist Toshinobu Onosato (1912-1986) uses primary colors to create a dynamic , geometric composition. Signed and dated ‘68 by artist, #118/150.


    About the Artist:
    Toshinobu Onosato (1912-1986)
    was a well-known Abstract style painter who was born in Nagano Japan. He studied painting at Atelier Tsudo Seifu beginning in 1931. He exhibited with Nika Artist’s Association in 1935 and in 1938 joined the Jiyu group. Serving in Manchuria during the war, Onosato was imprisoned in Siberia from 1945-1948. Returning to Japan, he continued to paint and make prints at his studio in Kiryu. His painting was the Grand Prize winner at the 1963 Tokyo Biennial and in 1964 and 1966 he represented Japan at the Venice Biennial. During his career he participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions and produced an extensive body of work. The Onosato Museum of Modern Art in Kiryu, Japan is dedicated to his work.
