SOLD This cement statuette is a recasted replica of the Garden Sprites that were installed at Midway Gardens, located in Hyde Park of South Side Chicago. This was a large entertainment facility for European-style concert gardens for year-round entertainment. These Sprites were designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1913. They were sculpted by Alfonzo Ianelli. These figures were positioned on the exterior walls to give an appearance of watching over the gardens.
This piece has a starkly architectural vibe, true to Wright’s aesthetic and discipline. The pedestal is two pieces, and the figure is one solid piece.
Great condition. Missing inner connecting rod.
