    About the Artist:
    Ralph Fanning (1889-1971)
    was born on Long Island and went on to attend Cornell University and University of Illinois for architecture. As a Quaker, he served in France during World War I as compassionate non-military support. He then joined the staff at The Ohio State University as a professor in the art department, later became a professor of American and European history. He habitually sketched and painted between classes, frequently depicting buildings on campus.
