    SOLD Footed vase by illustrious ceramics duo Otto and Gertrud Natzler circa 1960 has thin, delicate walls with a swirl in the interior basin. The vibrant blue glaze has a dark lip and foot. Signed on base with original studio inventory label.

    About the Artists:
    Otto (1908-2007) and Gertrud (1908-1971) Natzler
    were an acclaimed Austrian ceramicist couple, praised and recognized as some of the most elite ceramics artist of the 20th century. The couple simultaneously found each other and ceramics in 1933. Gertrud found her gifts throwing on the potter’s wheel, while Otto perfected glazing, creating around 2,000 in his lifetime.The couple fled to Los Angeles in 1938 to escape WWII tensions, where they started a new studio with Gertrud as the potter and Otto as the glazer. Their techniques individually were impressive, but their collaborative efforts were remarkable.
