    About the Maker:
    Marblehead Pottery
was founded by Doctor Herbert Hall 1904 as an aspect of therapy for women diagnosed with nervous disorders in Marblehead, Massachusetts. It became a professional company the following year, and a for-profit business in 1908. It never employed more than six people at one time. Marblehead did not want to have distracting forms or ornamentation, and therefore focused on high quality, well executed shapes and glazes with minimal, if any, decoration. The pottery was closed in 1936.
