Charming ink illustration by Ludwig Bemelmans, the famous author/illustrator of the "Madeline" children's book series first published in 1939. There were six books published in this series which ultimately were adapted into animated cartoons and a live action movie. This illustration is of a large woman grasping a column as two maids in black pull strings on her corset to cinch it. The woman in the center is having a discussion with another man in a suit as he stands in front of a fireplace.
This illustration is just one of hundreds of pieces of art that are available at our location in Grandview! Come in today and see the full collection.
Good condition, some pin holes and creasing in upper corners and some small areas of water staining. Drawing appears to be drawn on two pieces of paper attached to one another. New archival quality framing materials.
