    “Die Kerze”, translated to “The Candle” is a fabulous hand colored etching by artist Kurt Hilscher. Two women sir in large black hats and skits, while a third woman extendes her legs perfectly up, letting her billowing skirts collect in a curtain around her head. Details of red accentuate and otherwise neutral palette. Hand signed and titled in pencil by artist.

    About the Artist:
    Kurt Hilscher (1904-1980)
    was a German commercial illustrator who studied at Dresden Academy of Fine Arts from 1924-26. He lived and worked in Paris from 1927-34, picking up a variety of influences.
