About the Artist:
Kojo Kamau (1939-2016) was a Columbus, Ohio native and spent five decades documenting the ever changing landscape of the city, particularly among the African American community. Kamau attended Rochester Institute of Technology, The Ohio State University, and the Columbus College of Art and Design. Some of his famous subjects include President Obama, Muhammad Ali and the artist Elijah Pierce. From 1964-1994 Kamau served as the Chief Medical Photographer at The Ohio State University. In his lifetime he received a variety of awards and his work is featured in the Columbus Museum of Art and The Ohio Supreme Court.
