Beautiful print of a woman walking through the gardens with a young girl, possibly her daughter. An attendant follows them, holding a parasol to keep them sheltered from the sun. Signed in the lower left-hand corner.
About the Artist:
Katsukawa Shunshō was an ukiyo-e stule printmaker and a painter who lived between 1726 and 1793. His work was noted due to his interactions with actors, he started studying the arts at the Torii school, but broke away to start his own style. He was the teacher of Hokusai, who is the most well know Japanese printmaker in the world.
Great condition. Some water damage in upper right corner.
