    SOLD An etching from plate 19 of the Tauromaquia series circa 1815, “Another Madness of His in the Same Ring” by Spanish legend Francisco Jose de Goya. This burnished aquatint, with drypoint and burin, has great dimensionality of line. A Spanish matador is elevated on a table, preparing for impact from a charging bull. Onlookers cower together nearby, in awe of the matador’s bravery. Signed and dated in plate. In a patterned,

    silver-tone frame. 

    About the Artist:
    Francisco Jose de Goya (1746-1828)
    was a Spanish painter and printmaker. He was considered one of the most important Spanish born artists in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Both the last of the Old Masters and one of the first moderns, Goya was quite successful in his lifetime. He was also an expert portraitist. Goya traveled all over Europe, experimenting with different themes in his art.
