    An original watercolor by F. Hopkinson Smith titled “A Grey Day- Rio Giuseppi Venice” depicts gondolas floating idly in a canal in Venice under a gray sky. This original watercolor has a gold tipped linen mat in a gold frame. A brass name plate sits at the lower center.  

    About the Artist:
    Francis Hopkinson Smith (1838-1915)
    was a Baltimore, Maryland native and descendent of one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. He went on to become a contractor in New York City and completed many important projects, such as the foundation of the Statue of Liberty. He was also an author, illustrator, and an artist.
