    Striking large bronze sculpture by noted French artist and sculptor, Emile Louis Picault. This bronze sculpture features a nude male, with a torch in his hand and book at his feet. It is titled Le Genie de L'Humanite. A foundry mark is found on the back of the piece.

    About the Artist:

    Emile Louis Picault was born in Paris, France in 1833. He is best known for works depicting allegorical and patriotic subjects. He was a very prolific artist, creating several hundred different models. He began exhibiting his works at the Paris Salon from 1863 through 1909. He died in 1915. His works are in collections and museums throughout Europe and America.
