About the Artist:
Don Drumm (1935-) was born in Warren, OH. He decided to pursue an art career after two years studying medicine. He received his BFA from Kent State University, and later his MA. He opened his own studio in 1960, becoming a full time sculptor and craftsman in Akron, OH. The studio expanded to create a gallery, eventually growing to eight buildings which includes over 500 artists on display in galleries and three resident studio spaces. Drumm started using cast aluminum as an artistic medium in the 1950s. A master experimenter, Drumm taught at Bowling Green State University and Penland School of Crafts in the 1960s. Many members of the Drumm family are involved in his artistic enterprises, spanning many generations. Many public, private, and commercial commissions can be found across the United States and internationally.
