SOLD Hand blown art glass case has gorgeously layered tones of yellow, and blue to create an ambient green. An excellent example of artist Dominick Labino’s craftsmanship and understanding of the medium. Signed and dated 1978 by artist.
About the Artist:
Dominick Labino (1910-1987) was a scientist and master glass craftsman. He had over 60 glass related patents in the United States, and had major contributions to the art and science of glassworking. A process he innovated to form fiberglass were used in the Apollo and Gemini spacecrafts for insulation. Tired of the industrial side of the industry, he moved to Studio Glass in 1962. He taught at University of Wisconsin-Madison, Rhode Island School of Design, and the Toledo Museum of Art School of Design. He created his own studio on his farm in the Grand Rapids, Ohio area. He used this studio for educational workshops in conjunction with the Toledo Museum of Art School of Design. His glass is a part of highly esteemed national and international collections, such as Art Institute of Chicago, Smithsonian Institute, and the Victoria & Albert Museum.
