A topographic map originally published in 1610 by legendary cartographer John Speed (1551-1629). Marionethshire is amongst the thirteen historic counties of Wales. Details surrounding the map were representative of Speed’s comprehensive style. Frame is double sided to show the text on the reverse.
About the Creator:
John Speed (1551-1629) was an English cartographer and historian known to be one of the forefront mapmakers of the early modern period. He created maps of the UK printed from copper plates with descriptions of the areas on the backs in English. Most of the physical engravings happened in Amsterdam. His legacy as a mapmaker and history are enduring to this day with his early and significant contributions to British topography and mapmaking as a discipline.
