    About the Artist:
    Carl Christopher Graf (1892-1947)
was an impressionist painter from Indiana. An experienced mural painter, he participated in the City Hospital Project in 191. This project consisted of painting murals in the new wings of the Indianapolis City Hospital. Sixteen Indiana artists contributed, receiving approximately $75-100 a month. Graf was amongst a group of those artists who lived in the hospital during this year long project in an effort to subsidize. After the project, he went on to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, the Art Students League of New York, and the Cincinnati Academy of Art. After his education, he returned to Brown County where he lived the rest of his life.
