    Circa 1925, this watercolor and gouache on paper is taken from a sketchbook used by Alice Schille during her time teaching at the Columbus School of Art. Hues of purple and green create a shaded cottage on a village street. Comes with a letter of appraisal, piece came directly from her sketchbook. 


    About the Artist:
    Alice Schille (1869-1955)
    was born to a wealthy family in Columbus, Ohio, and experienced traveling to many continents throughout her upbringing. Her travels informed the development and exploration of her artistic style and expression. She was well known for her Impressionist and Post Impressionist paintings winning many accolades and prizes. She taught for many years at the Columbus Art School and retired in 1948.
