SOLD Part of Adolph Gottlieb’s Burst series spanning from 1956-1974, “Thrust” shows a brown disk hovering above an abstract black mass, evoking the most basic and reductionary principles of a traditional landscape. This lithograph is indicative of a lifelong evolutionary body of work that Gottlieb contributed to until his death.
About the Artist:
Adolph Gottlieb (1903-1974) was an American Abstract Expressionist was a trained painter, sculptor, and printmaker. One of the “first generation” members of the movement, he was also one of the most traveled, giving him additional perspective in his artistic studies in New York City in the 1920s.Gottlieb’s style focused on the emotional truths that he felt all art should hold. He was extensively exhibited in his lifetime and his works are a part of some of the highest level collections in the world.
