An Exclusive showing of The Art of Linda Oldham at Grandview Mercantile

Santa Fe by way of Texas, artist Linda Oldham's obsessive labor intensive art is engaging to say the least. She plays with pastoral Norman Rockwell-esque scenes and fuses them with 18th century Victorian porcelain, adding a dash of surrealism.

She is known for hunting and collecting antiques for inspiration.

The found objects are then re-purposed into decor and sculptures that are baroque in detail. Her deft hand leaves no trace of the re-purposed orartist hand. Instead, we are left with a complete piece that seemed to be destined from the beginning.

We have been given the oppourtunity to offer to the public a small collection of Linda's works for sale. Encompassing several of her differnet practices. From china flowers and collage to Encaustic Painting.

Encaustic Paintings of Linda Oldham

Encaustic painting, also known as hot wax painting, involves using heated beeswax to which colored pigments are added.  he liquid or paste is then applied to a surface-usually prepared wood, though canvas and other materials are often used.  Metal tools and special brushes can be used to shape the paint before it cools, or heated metal tools can be used to manipulate the wax once it has cooled onto the surface.
