Art for All
October 17, 2014
: something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings
That's how the dictionary defines "art." But each one of us has our own definition of what art is - maybe it's the colors that draw us in; or it might be a certain style that gets our attention; or perhaps we have a strong emotional connection to something.
Whether you're a collector, just getting started with your decor, or somewhere in between, we've got your art.
For the serious collector
Look no further than Grandview Mercantile for collector pieces from renowned artists such as Andy Warhol, Alice Schille, and George Bellows.
Columbus Artist: George Bellows, 1923 "Plaid Shawl" Signed Lithograph
Depicts the artist's wife, Emma sitting on a distinctive Victorian sofa upon which Bellows painted her many times, most notably in one of his great works in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, "Emma and her Children."
Charles A. Csuri, 1994 "Something In The Air"
Signed and Numbered Algorithmic Digital Art (48-1/2"H x 65-1/2"W)
Csuri was recognized by Smithsonian magazine as "the father of digital art and computer animation." A long-time art professor at OSU, Csuri founded the Advanced Computing Center for Art and Design, dedicated to the develpment of digital art and computer animation - one of the world's first computer art, animation teaching, and research programs.
Alfred Boucher, Late 1800s Bronze of Man and Woman
38" tall French bronze sculpture by Boucher; he was born in 1850 near Paris where his father was a farm laborer. His fame grew by capturing the attention of many men of science and political figures, including the King of Greece, George I, and President Jean Casimir-Perie.
